I, always wondered why we light incense sticks every day in our house, in temple or during a religious ceremony or festival. I have been seeing my father lighting incense stick in front of the God’s idol all my life. You must have noticed that for Indians not lighting incense sticks during worship is like preparing food without salt. Lighting sticks is one of the Hindu customs that has been carried forward from ages. As, I am eager to know the secret behind this, I asked my guru what happens when we light an incense stick or why we glow sticks. My crazy question exposed me to something very interesting that I had never known before. There is more than one reason to it. He said that all the idols and statues start spreading out positive vibes and light as soon as the incense stick is placed. According to Hindu rites, there are some scientific reasons also behind lighting the stick. It is believed that burning incense sticks alters vibration in our body. It keeps us calm down; helps in meditation as well as in concentration, helps to filter our mind from negative thoughts and most importantly it calms our spirit.

Rather than using techniques and therapies, incense is safe, easy and natural way to relax our senses, mind and body. It often helps in refreshing our mind, body and spirit and soothes our mental senses. Indian incense refreshes the environment with their beautiful fragrance. During older days, incense was made with natural chemicals and by hand, but nowadays it is manufactured in industries and the process is mainly done with the help of machines.
